Brewery and Distillery Cleaning Alexandria — Production Floors, Drains and Taprooms in 2015
The brewing and distilling cluster in Alexandria NSW 2015 sits in exactly the buildings you would expect: high-bay warehouse shells off Bourke Road, Huntley Street and the Collins Street blocks, with a brewhouse at the back, a packaging line down one side and a roller door that opens into a taproom on Friday. Pro Clean Corp services Alexandria 2015 and surrounds with crews briefed on the one rule that separates a competent brewery cleaner from a liability: nothing chlorinated comes through the door.
Where our scope stops and your brewer takes over
Clean-in-place on vessels, line cleaning, hose and fitting sanitation and anything product-contact is your production team job under your own food-safety plan, and it stays there. A contract cleaner who offers to sanitise your brite tanks is telling you they do not understand the risk. What we take is everything around the process, which is most of the labour and all of the tasks that get skipped when the head brewer is already doing sixty hours:
- Production floor washed and squeegeed to fall, with non-slip epoxy treated using low-foam neutral or mildly alkaline detergent
- Trench drains and grates lifted, scrubbed back to bare stainless and baskets emptied — weekly minimum, twice weekly in summer
- Tank plinths, pump skids, hose racks and the voids underneath, where sticky wort residue collects and never dries
- Keg wash and cold-store approach areas, including the sugary film that builds on walls near the filler
- Packaging hall — canning or bottling line surrounds, glass and can debris, shrink-wrap and carton waste separated for recycling
- Spent grain bin area and loading approach kept clear, hosed and deodorised so the pest pressure never builds
- Walls, doors and roller shutter tracks — the vertical surfaces most cleaners never touch in a wet production room
The chemistry we will not use, and why
Chlorophenol taint is the reason breweries fire cleaners. Chlorine from bleach or a chlorinated sanitiser reacts with phenolic compounds already present in beer and produces a medicinal, TCP-like off-flavour that a trained palate detects at parts per billion. It does not need to touch the beer — airborne carryover from a bathroom cleaned with bleach two rooms away has been enough. So our brewery sites are chlorine-free end to end, including the amenities and the taproom. Strong fragrances, pine-based products and aerosol air fresheners are out for the same reason, and crews are briefed on it rather than handed a product list.
Distilleries add a different constraint. Spirit stores and still rooms are hazardous areas with vapour and no tolerance for ignition sources or aerosols, so we work to your zoning, use appropriate equipment, and do not enter a still room unattended. Where a site also runs a fabrication or workshop bay, that portion is quoted under our Alexandria industrial cleaning scope.
The taproom is a hospitality venue, so we clean it like one
Once the roller door lifts on a Friday you are running a bar, and the standard changes. Overnight crews reset the taproom: hard floors degreased around the pour line, tables and bar tops sanitised, glass-wash and drip-tray areas cleaned back, bathrooms deep-cleaned and restocked, and the outdoor or dock-side seating swept and hosed. Beer on a concrete floor goes tacky and then sour, so the taproom needs a genuine wash rather than a mop over. The same crews cover our cafe and restaurant cleaning in Alexandria, so hospitality standards come as standard.
Documentation, insurance and price
Every visit is logged and signed, the chemical register with safety data sheets stays on site, and your food-safety auditor can see exactly what was cleaned, with what, and when. Cleaners hold current national police checks; Pro Clean Corp carries $20M public liability and workers compensation. Production programs run $50 to $65 per hour, and a combined brewhouse, packaging and taproom scope in Alexandria typically lands between $2,400 and $4,500 a month. Numbers for every sector are broken down on our Alexandria commercial cleaning cost guide, tiers are on the rates page, and general questions are answered on our FAQ.
Brewery and distillery cleaning Alexandria — FAQs
Do you clean the tanks and lines as well?
No, and you should be wary of any cleaner who says yes. Vessel CIP, line cleaning and anything product-contact belongs to your brewer or distiller under their own food-safety plan. We take everything else in the Alexandria 2015 site: floors, trench drains, walls, plinths, the keg wash area, packaging hall, cool room exteriors, taproom and amenities.
Why does chlorine matter so much in a brewery?
Chlorine and chlorine-based sanitisers react with phenols naturally present in beer to form chlorophenols, which are detectable as a medicinal or plastic off-flavour at parts per billion. We do not bring bleach or chlorinated product onto a brewery site in any form, including the amenities, and our crews are briefed on why.
How much does brewery cleaning cost in Alexandria?
Production-floor programs run $50 to $65 per hour because of the wet work, PPE and drain scope. A typical Alexandria brewhouse with a packaging area and a 60-seat taproom sits between $2,400 and $4,500 a month for a five or six day schedule covering both production and front of house.
What do you do about fruit flies and drain flies?
Break the breeding cycle rather than spraying the adults. That means scrubbing trench drains and grates back to bare stainless weekly, lifting and cleaning drain baskets, degreasing the film inside floor waste, clearing spent grain and fruit residue from bin areas daily, and flagging any standing water under plinths. It is the single highest-value task on a brewery scope in summer.
Can you clean the taproom without disturbing production?
Yes. Taprooms in Alexandria typically close between 9pm and midnight while the brewhouse runs early mornings, so we work the overnight window. Front of house is reset, floors are done, glassware areas wiped and bathrooms restocked before the first shift walks in.
Do your cleaners understand distillery safety?
Yes. Spirit stores and still rooms are hazardous areas — high-proof vapour, no ignition sources, no aerosols, no equipment that is not appropriately rated. Crews are inducted to your zoning, use non-sparking tools where required, and will not enter a still room without your team present.
